Thanks for the videos. Showing the importing of images via the folders was exactly what I needed and in two-minutes I was up and running!

    Awesome App!

How many subfolders can I create such as Europe, followed by Italy, France, etc and then sub folders per country such as Paris, Lyon etc having done that can I additionally sort by selecting flowers as an explange if the photos were tagged as such from which ever folders they are in and last if the photos are tagged with a description will it display as well and can they be tagged if not so at the Ipad? If it does all this it is a dream come through

Sort Shots will take a very large number of tags. You will be able to sort by ‘Flowers’ very easily once those images have been tagged. Right now, the description is not visible by the individual files but the tag will turn blue to indicate the association with the tag. We are working on the ability to export/import these tags into other 3rd party programs.

Will tagging with Sort Shots allow me to import on a Mac or pc into let say, photoshop elements or iPhoto keeping the tags ? In other words are the tags written on the photo meta data?

How do I remove a tag from an image?

  6. admin 23. Aug, 2010 at 3:49 pm #

Simply select the image (a check mark will appear on the image), tap on ‘Assign Tags’ and simply tap on the term you no longer want to be associated with the image. Hit ‘Done’.

We are working on meta data and have submitted a build that will read tags and ratings from other programs. So far, only Adobe Lightroom and Bridge will both export and import tags. You will have this ability in version 2.0 which is currently in for approval with Apple.

I’m thinking about getting an ipad just so that I can use sortshots during client review sessions. One thing I would like to know, can i zoom in from the full screen view to see a high resolution photo up close (to check focus etc.)?

Are there any plans to enable multiple/all image selection for importing photos already on Ipad? Having to individually select images that have been already imported via the camera connection kit is quite time consuming. The ability to import all of a folder would a great aid for people who want to use the ipad when traveling to back up photos, rate and delete images that don’t make the cut.

What about RAW support. It does not do me much good to be able to edit metadata on the ipad if I can not see the photos. Lightroom is a raw photo editor – until you support that format there is no point syncing anything with lightroom.

Utilizing the keywords and ratings from various programs such as Adobe Lightroom provides users with the flexibility to instantly find images associated with a tag/keyword or rating for sharing. A lot of our users either shoot jpeg’s or a raw plus jpeg and wanted to utilize this data. Additionally, people have been using Sort Shots as a method of showing their portfolio to clients using keywords already assigned to images. Plus, raw files are huge and require a lot of resources and space and until the iPad offers a terabyte of space, we all have to work within its limitations yet utilize it to the fullest.

We would love to be able to offer this but unfortunately, it is not within our control. Apple does not give us the capability to do so.

  13. admin 20. Sep, 2010 at 2:14 pm #

We have implemented the option to a) use full image resolution and b) use an optimized version. So you can pinch out/in to zoom in/out of an image and check your focus (or just to show off your incredible focusing job).

    Hello,

I’ve seen your app and seems great. I want to use it along with iPad camera connection kit. I want to review my shots on the go, rate them and at the studio import them, with ratings to lightroom . Is that possible with curen version or i must wait until version 2 comes available.

    Thanks

  16. admin 04. Oct, 2010 at 6:34 pm #

Version 2.0 is already out allowing you to import and export keywords and ratings for Adobe Lightroom and Bridge. Unfortunately, Apple does not allow app developers to use the camera connection kit to import images into apps.

Is it possible to create folders for images within SortShots? I see that I may apply keywords and find images that way but would also like to use folders.

    regards,
    Charles

The best way to remove 1,000 or so more images from you iPad is via iTunes – select and delete a group of images just like to did to import them. Click on the first one (assuming they are in a group) then holding the Shift key down click on the last item. Press the Delete key. Sync your iPad. Sort Shots will then index your images and all will be gone.

Currently, you cannot create a folder within Sort Shots but if this is a feature everyone would like then please tell us how you would like it to work? i.e. save a bunch of photos to a folder by tag?

Hi, different channels give different info on which software programs are able to read the keywords that you add on the iPad via “sort shots”. It’s clear from your homepage that it is functioning with Adobe Ligthroom and iPhoto. But does it also work with Apple native photo editing programs iPhoto’11 pr Aperture 3,1? Will these be able to read the tags added via the app on an iPad?

  21. admin 29. Oct, 2010 at 4:51 pm #

We are working on various programs and the ability to import/export tags. Click here for the current list of supported programs.

Just bought your app in the hopes that it will do what I need it to do.
I have many shots of my work and need to be able to show them on my ipad with titles.. ie style numbers.
With your “labelling” is this possible?
Please confirm and tell me the best way to go about this task.
    Thank you

The ‘file name’ is displayed in large screen view of an image but not currently in the thumbnail view unless you press the ‘i’ (info) button. Once you press the info button, you can view the file name and/or alter it.

Wanted to know about creating folders or tags for various customers. So for example if I am going to see 3 customers today to review their images, Customer A, Customer B, Customer C how can I keep those images so only each customer see their images ?

  25. admin 24. Jan, 2011 at 12:41 am #

You can assign a tag to those photos i.e. Customer A and sort by ‘Customer A’ and only those images will be shown. If you want to re-arrange the images in a particular sequence afterwards you can do that also and save the Sort/Sequence. Alternatively, if you have metadata with ‘Customer A’ you can instantly do a sort.
We are working on adding folders for additional flexibility but we want to make it really easy and fun to use so stay tuned.

  26. admin 03. Mar, 2011 at 4:42 am #

Chances are you aren’t exporting the tags with your photographs. Please go to the screen shots in ‘How To’. The bottom of the page has a section for iPhoto.

Is there a way to adjust the speed of the pictures in the slide show function?

  28. admin 11. Mar, 2011 at 2:44 am #

Tap on the more function (arrow icon) on the very right on the toolbar, select ‘Preferences’ and there is an option for ‘Place Each Slide For’ where you can choose 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 seconds.

After importing a set of photos, I sorted them using the drag & drop feature. I then did a ‘select all’, and then I did an export to ‘library’. Where is ‘library’?
