Welcome to Sort Shots- iPad Edition


Functions

  • Enlarge a thumbnail – double tap on the image.
  • Move to the next/previous image – swipe action or .
  • View file information including file name, size and date – tap-and-hold on the thumbnail:

  • Sort through your images based on tags, ratings, type or favorites.
  • Assign tags by selecting the image(s) you wish to associate with a given tag and press and then choose the tags you wish to associate with the image(s).
  • Create a new Primary category:  tap-and-hold action on the expansion arrow , a pop-over screen will appear.  Tap on ‘Add Primary Tag:

  • Import photos into your Sort Shots library.
  • Delete images from your Sort Shots library.
  • Primary category (#) indicates the number of subcategories – if you wish to view the subcategories tap on the expansion arrow indicated with .
  • Settings Menu:  Change your slideshow music, transition, hints and selection clicks
  • Upload selected image(s) to Flickr, Picasa, Twitter or Facebook (Internet connection is required)
  • Sequence your shots by file name, Date, Size, Rating or Custom.
  • Save a Sort or a Sort/Sequence combination for easy one-touch retrieval.
  • Start your slideshow.
  • Reset Sort criteria.
  • Deselect all images.
  • Resize your thumbnail images
  • Favorite – tap and hold on a thumbnail or tap on icon in individual image view – it will change to red .
  • Assign an image to a contact or e-mail an image.
  • Change to full-screen mode.
  • Save a Saved Sort title.
  • Mute music in a slideshow
  • View file name, size and date – tap-and-hold action on a thumbnail:

Add Photos

To Add Photo’s to your Sort Shots Library we recommend using iTunes or the function.  iTunes Folder is the easiest way to import images into Sort Shots.

iTunes

Using iTunes:

  1. Connect iPad with your computer & open iTunes
  2. On the left side panel of iTunes, click on your iPad under ‘Devices’.
  3. Click on the ‘Apps’ index tab and scroll down to ‘File Sharing’ and click on ‘Sort Shots’.  You are now ready to add photos from your computer into Sort Shots.

4.  Locate the files you wish to add – you can select all the images in a file but opening up the file and pressing ‘Ctrl – A’ or select specific images by holding down the ‘Ctrl’ button and clicking on the images.

5.  Drag the selected images over to the ‘Sort Shots Documents’ area and the images will be added to the image list.

6.  Sync your iPad with iTunes

7.  Open up Sort Shots and wait while the images are indexed.  Once complete, you will see the images in your Sort Shots library.  Note:  the first time new images are added indexing may take a few minutes.  Subsequently, indexing will be significantly faster.

Directly from Your iPad

To add images from your iPad

  1. Tap on
  2. Select the Photo Album you wish to import from.
  3. A list of images will appear – Simply tap on the images you wish to add (the image will darken for a moment while it is being added).
  4. Tap outside of the ‘Photo Library’ area once you are finished to close the ‘Photo Library’ box.

Tag

The Tag view is the main area to add terms and ratings to your photos. At the tap of a button, you will be able to sort through all of your images. But first, we need to create your custom terms.

Custom Tags & Categories

To create your own custom tag:

  1. Tap on the images you want to wish to add a specific tag too – a red check mark will appear on the images.
  2. Tap on and then the word you wish to assign to the selected images.
  3. If you wish to create a new tag word tap on ‘Manage’ then the on the tag you wish to create a new sub-category too.  To add a primary category tap-and-hold on any expansion arrow   (see ‘Functions’).
  4. Type in your new tag word
  5. Click on ‘Done’
  6. Continue to select and deselect images and adding tags.  Tap on to deselect any images you have chosen.
  7. Hint:  Tags associated with images will appear in blue.  If there are secondary categories associated with a word a number will appear beside the name i.e. ‘People(3)’  as an indication that secondary categories exist.
  8. Hint:  By selecting and deselecting images you can quickly add multiple tags to images for easy sorting.  For example, I can select five images and tag them as ‘Wildlife à birds’ then deselect one image and assign a place to the remaining four images so I have the tags ‘birds’ and ‘Zimbabwe’ assigned to them.

Favorites

Add a photograph to your Favorites with a press-and-hold action on a thumbnail or tap on the in the full image view and a heart will appear on the corner of the image in the library.  Once selected as a favorite, the icon in the individual will change color .  To remove, press and hold or simply tap a second time in the individual image view.

Ratings:

Rating your photos can be done in both the Tag and Sort views.  To rate a photograph, simply tap on the appropriate number of stars you wish to assign to a photograph, or choose more than one photograph and tap on the number of stars and all of the selected images will have the assigned rating.  Tap on the number of stars a second time to re-rate a photograph or tap on the same number of stars to eliminate the star rating.

Sort

With terms and ratings associated with photos, sorts can now be completed.

  1. Tap on to open the Sort panel.  Tap on the term(s) of the photographs you would like to find.  To filter your results, add additional criteria to your sort by tapping on the terms.  Only those photographs that meet your criteria will be shown.  You may tap a second time to eliminate the selected criteria, or press the button.
  2. Rating – tap on and the appropriate number of stars you wish to view.  To eliminate a sort based on rating, tap .
  3. Type – Sort by media type by tapping on.

Your sort results are instant.  When complete, simple tap outside of the Sort area and the Sort box will close.

Hint: To eliminate all of your sort criteria, tap .

Sequence

You can change the sequence of images using the sequence function of Sort Shots.

  1. Tap on which will open the sequence options
    .
  2. Select the sequencing option you would like along with the Ascending or Descending option.
  3. To create a custom slideshow – tap on ‘Custom’.   The sequence in which the images will play in the order indicated by number on the icon.
  4. Simply tap and drag the thumbnails in the sequence you desire.  Once complete, tap on ‘Done’ in the top right-hand side of the display.

Note:  Date when the file was last modified using the iTunes ‘Folders’ sync option or the date when the image was added to their library using the ‘Add Photos’ function within Sort Shots.

Hint – File Information:  To view the name, size or date of a file use the press-and-hold action on the selected thumbnail  

Saved Sorts

If you would like to save your sort or custom sequence:

  1. Complete your Sort or Sequence so the desired results are shown.
  2. Tap a list of previously Saved Sorts will appear:
  3. Tap on any of the saved Titles to view the results – a checkmark will appear indicating the sort currently being displayed.
  4. Save a new sort by tapping in the text area, typing a title and the icon.
  5. To delete a sort tap on the trash can icon.

Share on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr & Picasa

  1. Select the images you wish to share.
  2. Press and then the selected site – Facebook, Twitter, Picasa or Flickr.  Please note:  an internet connection is required.
  3. Sign-in to your selected site or create an account.
  4. Files will be posted once the file upload is complete.
