Sort Shots Features

Adding Photographs

You have two methods of adding photographs:

1.  Choose individual images with the ‘Add Photos’ button or

2.  Import photos using iTunes.  Plug in your iPad, Click on the iPad device and ‘Apps’ on the second index tab.  Under the ‘Sync Apps’ you will see ‘Sort Shots’ simply drag your images over or point to them using the ‘Add To’ button.

The two main screens within Sort Shots are Gallery and Categorize.

Gallery

Each time you open Sort Shots, you will be brought to the Gallery page.  Thumbnails of all of your images will be shown based on the ratings you assigned your photographs or videos.  To fill the screen with only one image, double tap on the thumbnail.  To view the next image, simply use the swipe motion or press the forward arrow.  Tap on the ‘Back’ button to return to the Gallery page.

Categorize

The Categorize view is the main area to add tags and ratings to your photos.  At the tap of a button, you will be able to sort through all of your images.  But first, we need to create the tags.

Custom Categories

To add a new root category  i.e. People or Places, tap on the image(s) you would like to tag (a check mark will appear) and press the  ‘Categorize’ button.  Expand a current term by tapping on the arrow icon or add a new term by tapping on the ‘Manage’ button or with a long press motion.  There are three layers of tags that are completely customizable – add, delete and edit as you require.  The more layers you create the more specific your searches can be.

To add a subcategory (for example, People → Family),  long press on the tag you would like to create the sub-category.

You can add multiple tags to photos or videos by simply tapping on additional tags.  De-select photographs by tapping on them a second time.  Selecting and de-selecting multiple photographs will allow you to assign multiple keywords in seconds.   To minimize a category, double tap on the term.  Double tap again to expand the list.

If tags have already been associated with an image, they will appear in red.

Favorites

Photographs can be added to your Favorites with a long tap motion on the thumbnail or by tapping on the  (heart) icon when viewing individual images.  A red boarder will appear around the image.

Ratings

Rating your photos can be done in both the Categorize and Gallery views.  To rate a photograph, simply tap on the appropriate number of stars to rate a photograph, or choose multiple images and tap on the number of stars.  All of the selected images will have the assigned rating.  Tap on the number of stars a second time to re-rate a photograph or tap on the same number of stars to eliminate the star rating.

Sorting

With tags and ratings associated with your photos, sorts can now be completed.  To do a sort, Tap on the ‘More’ button to view the side panel and tap on the tags you wish to view – as you choose a tag, a check mark will appear indicating its selection.  To filter your results further, tap on additional tags or layers of terms by expanding your tags.  Only those photographs and videos that meet your criteria will be shown.  Again, you may tap a second time to eliminate tags from your sort.  Tap anywhere outside the Sort panel to close it or on the ‘More’ button.

Sorts can also be saved for fast retrieval.  Tap on ‘Save Sorts’ on the bottom toolbar, enter a name of your sort to be saved, then tap on the Save icon.  To delete a saved sort, tap on the trash button icon.

Sequencing

You can change how you view your images using the sequencing option.  Simply press the ‘A-Z’ button and choose a sequencing option - File Name, Date, Size, Rating or Custom along with a ascending or descending option. Your images have been re-sequenced.  Want to create your own flowing sequence of images?  Choose ‘Custom’ and then simply drag-and-drop the thumbnails in the order you want.  We’ve even added numbers to make it super easy!

Want to keep that beautiful, flowing slideshow? Save it!  Press the ‘Save Sorts‘ button, enter a title and press the Save icon.  It will be added to your list of Saved Sorts. Retrieve a Saved Sort by tapping on the title
