Many thanks for everyone’s patience. Sort Shots – iPad Edition 2.0 is finally available in the iTunes Store.

Sort Shots with Metadata in version 2.0 – Waiting for Apple’s Approval!

After a tough battle, our first release of Sort Shots with Metadata has been submitted to Apple.

Yes, METADATA/EXIF/IPTC/XMP and all those other wonderful and complex synonyms.

What version 2.0 will do:

It will automatically read an images tags/keywords from:

Adobe Lightroom
Adobe Bridge
Apple Aperture
Apple iPhoto
Nikon Capture NX
Microsoft Expression Media
Microsoft Photo Gallery

It will automatically read an images ratings from:

Adobe Lightroom
Adobe Bridge
Apple Aperture
Microsoft Photo Gallery

If you export your images out of Sort Shots v 2.0, tags/keywords will remain with your images and be read with the following supported programs:

Adobe Lightroom
Adobe Bridge
Microsoft Photo Gallery

Additionally, full image resolution is retained when importing your images! If you want to increase efficiency, turn on the ‘Resize Image’ option under Settings.

We heard you and we’ve sent an update to Apple to approve. This update:

- Fixes the indexing wait time

- Improves resolution

- Minor bug change on the sorting sequence.

Sort Shots 1.21 Update

Version 1.21 just released in iTunes.

No metadata yet but we fixed a bunch of niggly little bugs. It won’t crash when indexing all of those photos plus we made tagging photos easier!

Oh! You might LOVE the resolution improvement too.

Adorama Photography TV presents Sort Shots for the iPad. This week Mark Wallace discovered a great iPad application that is called Sort Shots. This app helps users find photographs on their iPad. Tap on a tag/keyword, a rating, a category or favorites to quickly locate your photographs. Sorts can be saved for easy retrieval. Select one or more photographs and share them on Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and Picasa. Create an impromptu slideshow by simply tapping the Play button and the images begin to play along with music from your Library.

Many thanks to everyone who filled out our survey. Your ideas and overwhelming response was clear. Most of your have over 2,000 images in your Sort Shots library, you want three layers of tags, a new interface, work in both landscape and portrait mode and well, looks like you want a thing called meta data in your images to feedback into every program on the earth (and then some). You want it. We’re on it!

We would like to know – do you want all three layers in your meta data or just the lowest tag? Send us your feedback!

This is a BIG chore so please give us some time.

If Sort Shots was to export your tags so that other photo software packages could read them, what tagging information (Meta Data/Exif) would you want to include:
Only the Primary Category i.e. People
Only the Secondary Category tag i.e. Family
Only the Lowest level tag i.e. Mom
Primary and Secondary tag i.e. People, Family
Secondary and Third level tag i.e. Family, Mom
All three levels i.e. People, Family, Mom

On average how many images do you have in your Sort Shots library:

Yes. I will pick three layers any day!

If Sort Shots was to embed the tags and rating with photos as Meta data (EXIF) so that other software/applications can read them, would you still like to see three layers of tags or just one level.

Yes, I think its fine as it is.
Well it takes some to get used to of it. So you need to make it easier.

Yes, but it should be a user defined setting so that I can turn it on or off.

Yes, it is fine.
